BRITAIN IN BLOOM is the largest and most prestigious horticultural campaign in Europe. Started in 1963, it has grown to the size it is today due to the enthusiasm and dedication of volunteers in local communities across the country. There are hundreds of communities involved in cities, towns and villages.

Portishead has entered for the South West in Bloom competition for the last 15 years. In 2008 we were awarded a GOLD MEDAL and also the PORTMAN CUP for being the best in the Small Towns group.

In 2009, at the South West Regional Finals, Portishead received a GOLD MEDAL once again! In addition, Portishead was awarded the SARGENT CUP for "the most outstanding effort and dedication in the competition".

In the 2009 National Finals, Portishead won GOLD in the Urban Community category. We also received seven awards in the Neighbourhood Awards section. More details .....

In 2010 we won Gold again in the South West Regional Finals and the St Bridget cup. In the National Finals we won Silver Gilt and were runners up to the City of London in the Britain in Bloom Sustainable Landscaping Award. (details ....).
