BRITAIN IN BLOOM is the largest and most prestigious horticultural campaign in Europe. Started in 1963, it has grown to the size it is today due to the enthusiasm and dedication of volunteers in local communities across the country. There are hundreds of communities involved in cities, towns and villages.
Portishead has entered for the South West in Bloom competition for the last 13 years. In 2008 we were not only awarded a GOLD MEDAL but were also awarded the PORTMAN CUP for being the best in the Small Towns group.
In 2009, at the South West Regional Finals of Britain in Bloom, Portishead received a GOLD MEDAL once again! In addition, Portishead was awarded the SARGENT CUP for "the most outstanding effort and dedication in the competition".
In the National Finals, Portishead won GOLD in the Urban Community category.
